    Hi guys,

My Topic title there kind of sucked, but its hard to explain,

I want to know how this site here:

    http://links.scrabblestop.com/details/2841.html

can see that www.online-stopwatch.com is owned by www.itsall3.com

I have a link to online-stopwatch on itsall3, but there are loads of backlinks to the site. i dont mention either site in the meta data.

The only thing i do is host them both with dreamhost, but i have lots of sites that are in the same account, and they are not mentioned...

    Any ideas???

    Cheers.

    Thats amazing!

I dont actually own any of them, except the www.online-stopwatch.com

But i dont really understand? So does that mean, say, google associates my site with them sites?

i didnt know sites could be linked like that.

Thanks cianuro, :) (can you tell me how you checked that?)

You are looking at a listing in a directory. Did you submit both sites to the directory? If so, did you use the same e-mail address when submitting? Listings do not just show up in directories. Someone has to submit the data or the directory owner gets it from another source.

Hi TechEvangelist, i found that site in a list of places people have visited my site from using statcounter.

I did pay for both sites to be submitted to directories, so maybe the person who did it used the same email address.

Thanks for your help. i never thought about them being linked like that either! :)

This would be the most logical thing.

It could be a script that compares IPs and the name of the person that regisered the domain. But that would be too slow and complicated, so I think it's what Seiya said.

Hi there, I own this site and this is exactly what happened. The two listings are linked because the submitter used the same email address. My site is not pyschic, I wish it were :) I'm glad you're getting traffic from it, though!

So potentially you could get a lot of false positives with that. I mean, if a lot of people outsource to the same directory submission company, and they use the same email address to submit loads and loads of sites over time, it could end up a bit misleading.
