How does the "link:" command work?

My website www.bw-wedding-invitations.co.uk shows only 2 back links when I use the command "link:www.bw-wedding-invitations.co.uk"

I know I have a lot more!!! Why is this?

I was thinking that maybe only pages with higher page rank shows up in google.

Anyone know?

Google has always been selective about what backlinks they show. It doesn't always seem to be the most important backlinks, but merely a sample. You can view more of your backlinks in your Google Webmaster Tools account. Yahoo also shows much more of your backlinks.

 

Try this link, then substitute your domain in place of google.com in the data box next to "Explore URL".

http://siteexplorer.search.yahoo.com/search?p=http://www.google.com&y=Explore+URL&fr=sfp

Google has nearly 300 million backlinks, per Yahoo's calculations! Amazing.

 

Thanks for the replies. I just checked Yahoo and most of the links are there.

 

Also go to your google webmaster tool account and check your external links there.

well you are right at your end that google only shows up some of the links to a website...........it shows away only the main links and for the rest you need to check it through some softwares or website's

 

yeah, you have 215 backlinks according to yahoo, and only 2 by the google results.

I always wondered why google shows only a small part of the backlinks.

Myself, I have about 1.400 backlinks in Yahoo, over 1.000 in other Search Engines, but google keep showing me only 6 backlinks, it's very annoying.
