How does the internet work? I am doing a project at school. I need a brief description on how the internet works. Like, how do you connect from one computer to another? What does the IP serve for? What would happen without and IP. It would be nice if someone could help me out. Thanks.

Here's some tips: How to use the Internet: 1) Flip burgers to earn money 2) Beg parents for an Internet account. 3) Use money from flipping burgers to buy an old pc 4) Scratch your head wondering why you can't access the Internet. 5) Install a modem 6) Spend 14-25 hours screaming at ISP to find out why you can't get access. 7) Turn the "ON" switch on for the PC. 8) Spend 14-25 hours waiting for ISP to give you correct configuration for your Internet Connection. 9) Spend 5-10 hours asking ISP why your dial up account seems to be very very slow compared to your friends. 10) Give up.
