Has anyone been using the firefox referal button? What kind of money does it make? I am thinking of putting it on my arcade site.. Any tips and suggestions/ comments?
You get $1 for each time someone downloads and installs firefox using the buton. I have had it on my site for ages and only had one person using it.
Not necessarily. It's more like a matter of having the right site topic/niche, i.e. attracting the kind of customer who are more likely to switch to Firefox from I.E., etc. Then again, I've been here for a while, and I've only ever heard of one guy who claims to make mid-2 figures a day from Firefox referralls, so...
Don't waste your space for firefox referrals. Read this shoemoney.com/2005/11/30/firefox-referal-ads-get-the-axe/
Yeah Shoe is right. I've always said $1 for Firefox referrals is pure B$. But as long as there are webmasters who will gladly plaster referral buttons all over their site for chump change, Adsense will gladly let them.
I have had many users download firefox off of my site. I had around 20 in one week. I get most of them from having a page dedicated to the download of firefox actually. below will show you that I have the firefox banner at the bottom, and a text link at the top. illhostit.net
Gosh JB, who you talking about? Yes, it's true I make between $20-$100/day in FF referrals alone (although recently, it's been averaging only $20-$30 )- but FF fits the niche of my site perfectly, and the majority of my visitors need FF to do what they are looking to do. And if they dont need it, after 'selling' FF, they at least think they need it.. Dont expect to make anything from FF if your site is about dieting, tropical fish or motorcycle-riding. IMHO, it makes more sense to plaster $1.00 FF referrals all over your site instead of $.09 Adsense ads if it's a good fit.. (although, i do both )
No desrespect meant, fella. I just can't remember every forum member's ID, especially when it's really, really early in the morning.
No disrespect taken.. But if you cant remember my ID, then I guess i need to insult you more And BTW, your post above about FF "chump change" made me think.. FF for $1.00 is chump-change, but an Adsense ad for $.09 isnt?!
I agree, the FF referal is good for sites that are internet/IT related. Such as my site. My users could actually benefit from using FF. So as stated above, its all about the theme of your site on it the referal link is going to be beneficial.
Well, you gotta look at it this way -- making money from Adsense ads require very little work from the surfer besides a simple click, something they do 100s of time everytime they jump on the net without thinking. You multiply that by however many surfers you have on your site at a given day, and that's a lot of clicks. Even at .09-cents a click, that's still a lot more money than $1 with Adsense referrals, which requires infinitely more work from the surfer in comparison. P.S. I've given up remembering most user's names unless they have about 500 posts, since most of them never stay, and the new members always seem to use the same word play, i.e. Adsensethis, Adsensethat, Guruthis, Guruthat, etc.
