How does Stumble Upon work? Newbie question

You will get significant traffic from stumbleupon if enough people stumble your site, but I find stumbleupon traffic to be useless, unless you like wasting bandwidth. Stumbleupon traffic rarely clicks any ads or buy anything on your site.

Yes, stumblers are not so active and do not click on ads, but I still earn around $1 from CPM ads in one of my blogs, thanks to the massivity of visitors from SU.

Stumble Upon is a great website for attracting unique visitors. Your Site must be tagged correctly however.

The backlinks are nofollow, but that doesn't mean you won't get some benefit.

 

another great thing about stumbleupon that hasnt been mentioned so far, is that some fellow stumblers may pick up a site that you submit, and write a review or post it on their blog(s) or sites. This may add up to a couple of backlinks for SEO.

 

i just submitted my site to su,hopefully it gets me more traffic and at only 5 cents a click seems ok as you are getting your target audiance.

How do you check how many visits you got from stumbleupon? will AWstats show stumbleupon.com as the referer URL?

 

Stumbleupon provides great traffic and sustainable traffic if you know how, just look at the last few months referrals to my blog (around 40k in the last few months):
