    Hi fellow Dp members!

i want to know how does google understands and shows DP forum in google when we search for "DP" as though its Digital Point

and if we search, "DC", google automatically get to know and shows "DC Comics" as bold? how?

if i want my site to come up for less letters as of above 2 examples, what do i need to do?

    Any one have any idea?

Learn SEO -- link building, the algorithms of Google and the search engines, there is MUCH to the issue of how search engines understand - check around on the forums and you'll get a lay of the land.

    Its done using two things:

    1) Anchor text of linking URL

    2) Artificial Intelligence (AI)

Read more about both, and you will figure out how its done, if you are smart enough.

No one can tell you exactly, Google do not disclose such things. Get A LOT of links with abbreviation and eventually Google will start identifying it.

If you want to use abbreviated terms as your main/target keyword, you have to undergo extensive training in optimization..

    Nice find..

DigitalPoint shows in the SERPs for DP because "DP" is used quite heavily on this forum. Also, people tend to use DP as the anchor text when they link the threads from their sites and blogs.

Googles spiders move around and read almost all the sites in the blogosphere. They read the anchor texts on different sites linking to for exampe DP. And more the number of anchor texts they find as 'DP' and more the number of searches on google for 'DP', more this keyword gains the value. And when you search as 'DP' google refers to the anchor texts it had read as 'DP' and the most high numbered 'DP' text links are shown first in the search engine result pages.. :)
