    Optimizing a website we are following lot of process and techniques including pinging a website.
    Is it really helpful for getting rank or anything?

    Pinging is helpful to get index backlinks fast. Pinging gives a signal to crawlers to crawl the site and get backlinks indexed.

    Yes, with Pinging turned on , Googlebot visits my site almost instantly.. ( can see via Logs..)
