How does Pay Pal donate button work?

    Hello all

    I am from India and have a website.

    I recently opened a pay pal account.

    I want to add pay pal donate button on my newly created website.

    Please advice on the following points,as i am new to paypal and know nothing about it.

    1. before adding this button,what steps do I take,so that when someone donates,the money reaches my account directly?




    2. Which details about my account have be given to the person before he donates?

    You can create donate button directly from your paypal account and when the user click on that it will automatically show your Paypal id to pay.

    Thanks to all for their helpful replies.I am sorry for my late acknowledgement.

    However I am still confused on the issue I raised in my last post.


    1.Does Pay Pal allow an Indian citizen(myself) to use a donate button on her site.Please clarify.


    Also I recently opened a Moneybookers account,after getting some bad feedbacks about paypal.

    2. So can I also add a Money Bookers donate button on my wordpress site?Does MB have any such provision?

    I tried to find out about MB Donate button for wordpress site,but have not found satisfactory answers.

    right now in india we are not able to create paypal donate button due to some rbi activities

    i have created the donate button using the above link

    i just want to know weather i can receive my payments

    I'm pretty sure you can setup the Donate button. The RBI regulations do not allow to 'Send' money from India... (Outward Remittance). It is only possible to 'Receive' money (Inward Remittance) - just like Western Union allows only one way i.e. incoming. Once the payment is received to an Indian PayPal account... it is automatically transferred to the bank account liked with your PP. Indian PP account holders cannot keep /save money in their PP accounts. Also if you wish to make a payment, there is no way that you can transfer money to your paypal account from your back account. The option of 'Add Funds' to paypal account has been disabled in India.

    However, I had this discussion with PayPal customer care and they said if you wish to make a payment, just enter the amount and PayPal will automatically deduct the money from your linked bank account. I don't know if this works... but it should.

    Hope this helps.

    P.S. If you're not asking Donations for a good cause 'Social Service' then it is not advised to use the Paypal Donate button.
