How does one get started?

So, it's safe to say that I've acquired a great deal of useful information while browsing the forum here. There's great information all around. Currently, I'm sitting at a crossroads. I've developed a business plan, but like many others (I hope) I'm struggling to find a clickbank product.

I've been checking for new products every day, but there are none that I feel confident enough to begin with. So here are some questions..

Has anyone ever promoted an older product (that is, 6 months, a year after its introduction to clickbank) and done well promoting it?

Has anyone picked something with low gravity (that is, 6 months, a year after itsintroduction to clickbank) and stayed under the radar while promoting it?

    Replies are much appreciated. Thanks!

I usually scan for a product with some kind of gravity, whether it be 5 or 100 just so I know it sells.. Secondly I list down things that interest me so marketing them would easier. I look for keywords that are searched and optimize a landing page based on that. After that its just marketing your site and hopefully hitting a gem. I'm starting to make a great deal of income weekly so I must be doing it right. You can ask me for help anytime.

Hey I'm just like you - trying to find products to market. Looking to break my Clickbank cherry and hope to make a sale soonish! :) What I'm doing now is:

    1. find products that interest me on Clickbank / Google
    2. find possible domain names
    3. plan course of action (article marketing? Squidoo/Hubpages creation? eZines? etc?)
    4. JUST START and NO procrastinating!

Good luck, from one newbie to another!

Well, you want to promote the products that are already doing well right now, as you know that if you copy other peoples methods and sell the same stuff, then you are going to make money, simple.

So how do you find the current hot products on CB, check out cbtopsites.com, and I am sure you can come up with a few good ideas.

If your still at a loss, just go with the trusty niches, that have been around for centuries, such as weight loss, making money, etc.

It's probably not the advice that you would want but here goes:

Experienced marketers are the ones that make money in IM/AM.
Experience is something that you get instead of what you originally intended.
So you can start almost with anything and be prepared to spend effort and money and get only experience back (no monetary returns) at first.

I would be very surprised if any member of this forum immediately started cashing in on megabucks without some trial and error first.

And now more specific advice: at first I would stay away from new products since 90% of them a junk anyway and it's hard to tell good ones from the bad. Go with established products as with these you can be sure they sell. There'll be competition too. But the good part about it is that you can learn from it.

    Hope this helps.

Nick, thank you for the tips. & Karabas, this is the sort of advice that I wanted. Thank you very much. I've been actively online & researching Internet Marketing for 8 yrs---4 years ago, I was all set up to start my first Affiliate campaign (however, lost steam while I created my own business in an offline marketing venture) Man, I wish I would've went with the Affiliate Marketing....I can only imagine where I'd be today. However, your advice is extremely solid. Sorting through new products is tempting, but I'll stick with established products until the kinks are completely out of my strategy. I've written a business plan, and before I even discovered the wealth available on this site, I was surprised that the very basics of my strategy mirrors many of the typical approaches that the marketers take on the forum. Except now, I've got useful tid-bits, tips, hints & tricks that will get me up and running & on the right track from the get go. Thanks again!

In my experience Image is everything.. I would stay away from products that look to flashy (one page wonders). The one in my sig is actually a pretty da_n good book(best I've read so far and I've read alot) and the look is more like a web page as opposed to a blog. How did I figure that out though, that's the question? look at it for your self and find out. As said above 90% (or more ) of the products are mostly hype, you have to learn how to sort throught the BS.

    But good luck anyway.

    hope this helps.

I'd recommend that as your first product to promote you do something established that converts. Also I recommend staying away from IM for your first product.
