How does one begin to evaulate the worth of a site? Do purchasers redesign the pages to their own taste but make use of the ranking and keywords?
There is a good article over at Performancing that discusses how you might put a price tag on a blog. While it is specific to blogs, the general principles would apply to any website.
1. Traffic stats 2. Earnings from PPC, banners etc 3. PR 4. Age of site and domain That's just the start They are the 4 main things I look at though.
The other thing that can affect the price of a site is the slightly intangable concept of 'potential'. It's not as reliable as the other methods mentioned but sites can and do sell based on it. A great domain name, a niche market etc. etc. Your target buyer is harder to find but they do exist. If you're selling a blog on a niche subject and can find the one buyer that is looking for just such a site it will sell and probably at a price that most will scoff at but as they old cliche goes 'something is only worth as much as somebody is willing to pay'. You've just got to find that 'somebody' Just some food for thought. Lux
Thanks for all those comments. One more question. I have two sites, PR5, designed to give the impression of 'gifted' amateur' rather than professional. They are based on swimming and psychic art/readings. Would I be better making the sites look more professional. Also my linking stategy is a bit untidy. Is a buyer likely to rewite each page to their own satisfaction or keep what I have done?
