Guyz, need some real help here. Some of my friends told me that sumbit your site in many(hundreds) non-reciprocal directories and yur site will really start getting traffic. Tell me is this true?
    Why does this happen?
Does the kind of site matter, because i have a site of mobile phone stuff e.g Softwares, Ringtones, Java games, logos, prices and a lot of stuff that is really in demand, will it gain traffic if i sumbit it in non-reciprocal directories?
If i submit my site in about 5000 directories of different PRs. About how many visitors will i get daily
    Help PLZZZ:(

Submittting your site to directories a cheap way of getting links. In 99% of the directories you will be asked for the sites name when you submit. That will be the anchor text of the link. The "anchor text" is the word or phrase that your rankings in the various search engines will improve upon. Eventually you will get visitors from the search engines.

Will you get visitors for mobile phones from directories? Probably not too many, if even at all.

Go through a few hundred posts here in SEO section- for more detailed explanations of what I said.

    Cheers

Directories do not give you much traffic unless you are in some Directory like Yahoo's or Dmoz. Try Search Engine Optimization so your site ranks well in Search Engines for site-related terms.

I haven't noticed that DMOZ generate traffic by itself, if you don't consider 5-60 visits a month by traffic.

Yes, submitting your site to non-reciprocal directories can help your site increase in search engine rankings. But it's not 100% guaranteed. Well, it depends on the kind or type of directory you're submitting to. Like if it also has a lot of traffic, inbound links and high PR's.

It helps but only in the long-run.
