I think using the word the makes perfect sense, depending what words are after it, you give the appearance of an authority: "Themarketingcompany" or "Theauctionsite"

    Just my opinion

Do you mean xxx.com is available? If yes, you should register it without "the".

No he was using xxx as fillers like if he wanted "thedog.com" he was saying "thexxx.com" becuase his question was about whether or not the word the was good or not.

Well, in that case some of them have been selling for a fair bit of money like theranking.com, thefirefly.com. They sold for $2,500 each at Afternic.

The original domain name is not available thats why i was asking whether to register that domain with "the". I think i might loose some visitors to the original domain but "the" is better for branding domains.
does anyone have any idea how it affects SEO. Google gives alot preference to domain names these days

Google recognizes 'the' as a separate term so you will get similar SEO benefit. You can also use a hyphen (the-xxx.com) if your only traffic source is going to be SEO.

The word THE is fine just as long as you keep it to no more then a 2 word domain, anything more then 2 words is just too much going on...

I used 'the' with the domain for my political blog - TheDuckShoot. 3000+ page views month and PR5 on google. I think using 'the' on this domain worked well. So it depends on what foollows 'the'.

I think the can be good depending on which keyowrds the xxxx's are representing. I think in most cases the keyowrds without the "the" would be preferable, but if that is not available I think adding "the" is not a bad alternative.

"The" makes your domain look unoriginal.

I don't think it would have been worth even $xx without developing it. After developing it of course it could have been worth a lot, but that's more about the work you put in rather than about the domain itself.
