How long does a site have to be online until you see the first backlinks in Google using the "link:" search feature?
Ok,thanks for the information...I asked because the site is online since 12 days and i can't see anybacklink using the "link:" option
You wont either. Not for a long time. 15-30 days is slightly misleading. You should use Yahoo to check backlinks as Yahoo is updated more frequently.
I launched my website on Thursday 18 last week right after i started to post on forums, blogs, free link submissions, directories etc. My first link came on google and yahoo on sunday night. On monday i have about 8. thats my experience PS I offer free advertising for your website - contact me for more information
My forum was installed on the 15th of september, a week later I opened it to the public. In October I started to push a link campaign and have collected many links from that time till now. I did not see any listings in Google till this last update (January 6th or 8th or something). I'll agree that Yahoo seems a bit quicker on updating the backlink list, as I saw them there within a month. Q
Google isn't the best when it comes to looking for backlinks. They take lot of time to export the data, and not all the links are shown for reasons best known to them. Yahoo is more reliable for this kind of stuff.
