I was just checking out http://www.askthebuilder.com/770_Build_Deck.shtml because it is well known that the site makes lots of $$ from adsense and I notices that in addition to a couple link units he has 5 ad units on a single page... Does anyone know how he does that? I understood the limit was 3 - or am I missing something?
Probably an ad-management scripts. I've noticed that a lot of the bigger sites get away with this. Google souble standards
I take that back, I looked at it again and it looks like he has 8 ad units on a single page!! What is going on here?
For sites with lots of pageviews, Google operates differently and gives special treatment like help with targetting keywords. For little players, show more than 3 and you're in trouble. I once had 4 by mistake and page load times were dreadful.
Askthebuilder is a premium adsense publisher. Sites like CNN, IBNLive, TechCrunch, etc. gets millions of pageviews and therefore Google offers them extra control over their ads. http://adsense.blogspot.com/2005/11/spotlight-on-ask-builder.html
