I know a lot of it is speculation, but does anyone have any concrete evidence if google does or does not favor .com/.net over .info domains?

NOP. all are the same, even if the domain is asdasd.abcd
Google loves content and quality sites, extension doesn't matter.

There is no any difference for the SEs what your domain extension is.
I have 1 .eu, 2 .info and several .com sites - absolutely no difference! So I think it is all speculation...

See alot of this is just speculation. I was just wondering if there was any hard evidence that google does/does not favor .com's over .info's . I have .info domains that do just as well as a .com, but I also have .info's that perform poorly - so to me it seems it can go either way.

Google have some filters for new registered info domains . But for my experience after some time If your info domain have good quality updated content you can get high positins in google anyway.

Google treats all the domain just the same whether it is .com , .net , .info .. What matters most to them is the relevancy, uniqueness and quality of its content. They also consider the quality of its outbound and inbound links.

Extension does not matter. But in my personal opinion, I think most average, no brainer internet users, are completely used to .com, so if you've got a clever domain name, but its extension is .info or .org or something, people may easily forget and put .com, and get a different site, or nothing at all..

And TRUST me, it only takes 1 time for a user to not like a site and never return.

There are some difficulties with .info (my experiance)
generally, more time needed to put into search output
but if you run a really quality site with unique content you will get what you deserve with any domain ;)
