How does google see 301 re-directs?

It seems many people buy multiple sites so that competitors cannot get there main site name. For example if we have a widgets site we can 301 re-direct without losing any link juice and own hundreds of other sites that are related to widgets like houseofwidgets, castleofwidgets, basketofwidgets, the list could be endless.

I have 5 sites that I previously used in my niche and now want to re-direct them all to my main page I am now using. The content on the old pages had many of the same products but the overall site is completely different.

Does anyone see any issues with 301 re-directing? I also saw the mention of adding the sites to the google webmaster tools and that you could set the main site in GWT.

I can re-direct in go daddy for the sites directly to my new site which go daddy previously did not have set up properly.

Does anyone see any issues with what I am doing? Things I should make sure I do? Words of caution?

Also will this help google to automatically start to de-index links that are of no use anymore?

Below are several sites on a single page that belongs to us. They all have different domain names. I have not the ability to upload any code in my htaccess folder. My site was created with the template-based software and this particular package does not allow you to upload any code to your site.
