I have solid proof that google js codes are able to scan contents from client side, without using Mediabot to scan the page. Here is the test. Do it yourself. Don't guess. Experts only 1 Use any HTML content file, 2 Change the Name to keyword unrelated to the content 3 Change the title of the file to a keyword unrelated to the content 4 Upload to Netfirms.com 5 View The page Every time, google adsense can display the correct ads without crawling the page. That means its adsense page can read the content smartly. HOW HOW HOW From URL, google can guess the content, if you use .../.../hosting.htm, then it is more likely a hosting related topic. I know using innerHTML, one can read the parent's title, with something like parant.title from an IFRAME, but apparently, google adsense is scaning more than keyworks in URL and title, because I changed the URL and title. How do google scan the parent of the IFRAME from client side?
Google isn't scanning it on the client-side, you can see that by looking at the network traffic when you view the page.
can you explain why google always display the right ads matching the content, even though nothing came from googlebot yet? Please, you can do the test I did above and see the result yourself. If you want to test it on anything other than netfirms, please use a well known domain, because google always display public ads on new domains. Here is another report tested by another person: Quote: While your enthusiasm is somewhat scary, I do believe something is happening. I created a fresh account at Netfirms, made a page with the word "Oranges" a lot of times. Then I copied the script that inserts a google ad, and put it on the page. Uploaded and show in browser, and the first two ads were from something with oranges. So, my guess is that the script doesn't scan the page. Either Netfirms has some cooperation with Google, so that they either provide contents of the page, or allows Google to fetch it, in response to the request of the Google ad. When I change the page contents (from oranges to apples), then the advertisements *doesn't* change. It's still about oranges. Then I copy the file to another name and load it again, and the new page has advertisements about apples. This also supports the idea that Google scans the page when the ad is first requested. After that, the page is in the Google ad database, and is not scanned again until the crawler gets to it.
This may help me work out why no adds show on this page: http://accommodation.schoolies.org.au/gold-coast-schoolies.htm As you can see, adds serve on other pages, but not on this one. I block public service adds because we are a charity ourselves and most of them are from US charities (irrelevant to our visitors). [You may notice some text on the left under the menu and at the bottom of the page under the footer about ringtones (I'm trying to effect what adds are served - works for some pages).] Any ideas how I can get adds to show on this page?
Dominic, I had similar problem with some of my sites (see thread my thread about this posted today). I found that if I IFrame the adsense ad from another page with just the key words and escription in the title field; the ads appear. Don't know why they weren't appearing before. Ken
are you using google toolbar? because if you are it is also sending info to google so all your calculations could be flawed. my 2 cents
