How does Google read keyword phrases?

I have a question and I'm not sure of the answer.

My website is based upon singing, and I want to target these 4 keywords/phrases: singing, how to sing, how to sing better and learn how to sing.

Now my question: will Google look and see all those phrases when I use the phrase "Learn How To Sing Better" (not singing obviously, but the other 3 phrases), or would I be better off just concentrating on one of those phrases?

I'm pretty sure that "how to sing" and "learn how to sing" will be interpreted differently so I think you would be better off treating them as different keywords and writing something like "If you ever wanted to know how to sing better." and "this article will help you learn how to sing better." so that you are mixing it up a bit. Chances are you'll get ranked for them all if you get ranked for one anyway.

Ok, that's cool. I figured that I would get ranked for them all if I used the phrase "Learn How To Sing Better". I also have the other phrases spaced out on my page as well, and I just optimized my images' alt tags for those keywords as well. Hopefully some of my efforts will pay off soon. I've been at this one month and I've made it to page 9 on Google for "Learn How To Sing Better" and I'm #10 on Yahoo for "Learn How To Sing Better"..just trying to optimize as best as I can!

I think it is very possible to optimize your site with all of the keywords and keyphrases at the same time. I have written articles for clients who have given me lists with 20 to 25 keywords, all related but written differently. And an article was written for EACH one of the keywords individually. You should keep in mind that not everyone may care to optimize their page with all of the same keywords or key phrases you have. I am not sure how your site is set up but make sure that each one is optimized. You should always have quality content on your site. Information is key, and Google LOVES quality content.

My site is filled with quality content. Actually, compared to other sites in my niche, and trying not to be biased, my site is one of the most well laid out and content rich of them all. I guess I just have to wait to get more backlinks and hopefully Google will see my site as quality. I have just optimized my home page with those keywords. I am going through all my posts and articles now and optimizing them for specific keywords or phrases so I can have a diverse readership. I can't post links yet but I will post one soon.
