How does google look at this?

I did a query on google, and found a ton of webalizer pages (PR2/3/4+) with backlinks. It wouldnt be difficult to get in that list on most pages.. If scripted, it could create a shitload of backlinks to a website.

Is this blackhat seo?

The query was "Usage Statistics for" +"Webalizer" +"2007"

You can see that alot of the bad neighborhood websites are already doing this. Check out the referrer on the first couple of websites..

But i dont think its black hat, could anyone explain why it is?

If you look at http://www.igr.sbg.ac.at/webalizer/usage_200701.html#TOPREFS it's obvious that some porn and pills sites have robots running to get in the top referrals list...

I would say it is good.

However, to get your link in the top refferers, you're going to have to use a bot to flood each site with fake visits, which is definitely black hat.
