AdSense says it knows when it is the best to serve your site with expanded text ads and that it would maximise your earnings. How does AdSense knows that? And how efective is that? What criteria is Google using to determine if ads should be combined? Here is how Google tells us, but I what more:
becuase they have the stats from everyones accounts, they know what works for particluar sites and what don't
Of course AdSense got all our stats, I mean what and how Google determines a site is suitable for expanded ads.
The clue is the first two words in that quote "Site-targeted text ads ": which means, ads by advertisers who think your site is so great they want to target ads just for your site-visitors. Don't worry about those until you have them - and google doesn't determine that, the advertiser does. Most small sites don't get these, or they get site targeted ads that pay too little.
Sorry for quoting for the not-that-accurate part of the FAQ. My quesiton is on this part (in particular): How to determine? That's my question.
I don't think this would be too difficult for them because they must have software to generate summary stats, which givem an overview whats is working and what isn't.
Well they can keep a track of almost everything wherever they display their ads. A simple sample of what google can do is google analytics (which it has opened to webmasters). Obviously a much more complicated system tracking detailed analysis of user behaviour depending on user age, location, time etc.... is easily possible for them.. Hence google can say when is best.
Your point is that AdSense uses statistics to determine when is the best. But the point is that they have never placed any expanded ads on my site. How would they know if expended ads do worse?
