Hi! I want to ask you how does Google threat the forum profiles and if the signature links are important? Lately, a lot of spammers create thousands of forum profiles with automated tools. How does Google fight this?

I think it's only a matter of time before these links are devalued. I hope so anyway because it's very disrespectful to create an account on someone's forum just for a backlink, which is why I've never done it.

It can't be that hard for Google to spot, because these links are only present on certain forums such as vBulletin, for example.

That's one of my problems. People creating profiles just for the back links.

I've modified it so that the links are now "nofollow" . But they're still registering. Maybe they have not noticed my change, so I'll disable guests from viewing profiles.

Guess that might be the best way to stop this, ;)

Google seems to have devalue some of those links over the years, and its something they really don't care about. The forum is in charge of stopping the spammers.

Google bots have some kind of recognition of SPAM links. I'm not sure how, but they definitely do.

    why google must fight it?
it's the forums filters and forum's admin work
2Frost1: you have even no idea why spammers registering here?
2interprenuer: it's not about the link. it's about the URL

Yeah but hopefully people realize these idiots are making any substantial post, so they just ignore them for the spammers they are.

Problem is how do you define SPAM? If a website lets users create dofollow profiles links what's wrong with legitimate site owners placing a link? Simplest option is to remove profile linking if you don't want them on your site.
