Google is one of the leading Internet company's and it has done very well during the past years.

But there is one thing that puzzles me.
Google offers lots of services like Blogger, Gmail, Google Docs, Picasa Web etc. i have all those but i have never seen ADS being put on any of the pages.
i thought internet companies earn from ADS, but how come they are not displayed on any of these products yet they offer free storage space and band width.

Is there any other way they earn from these products?? if it is there then what is it??

It's true that probably aren't making any money directly related to those websites/products. However, Google expands itself with those products, and in turn Google gets bigger with them. People who love Picasa will no doubt choose Google services in the future because they've gained a trust in Picasa.

As for some of those products/services you mentioned like Gmail, they definitely have ads on them. They started off without any, but once they got big and well-known, Google added their own ads in them. So most of their products will someday get ads, and others will simply expand their reach so people will have to go through Google one way or the other. Google Desktop is a good example of this - they have some nice things that really benefit users, but obviously Google isn't getting paid for this. But people can easily use the Google Desktop to search via Google which will in turn help them gain revenue by the ads people buy to show up on the search results.

Gmail has ads. Blogger doesn't have ads directly but its a quick process to sign up for Adsense....

Yeah and then there is the huge amount of data mining they are able to get from the services which they use to make more money on search and related products.

I have seen ads in gmail, orkut and more. I never saw ads @ blogger but they use it to make people sign up for Google accounts.

Hundreds of thousands of Blogspot user make less than a 100 dollars from adsense, and will take ages to get the first check... But google already got they part of the click... :)

Cool way to make money.. If google had put its own ad on blooger, no one would have been motivated to use it..

BTW, plugging your links like that to make it look like a signature is PERHAPS not allowed on DP.

If you sign-up for AdSense within blogger than they get additional revenue sharing from those ads. Always register your adsense account outside of blogger and manually insert your ads into the html code.

It comes down to marketing. Its a lot easier getting your name and brand out there when you provide free services. They also gain a lot of data on their users that will help them stay on top of the markets.
