From when it was first indexed, as long as the domain hasn't been dropped since.

My mate was asking the same question, and later he told me he ran some blackhat stuff and afraid if the affiliate networks his working with checks how long his website has been up.

Then, in the end, he used something called robots.txt if im not mistaken

Can anyone tell us? What site can we go to check the domain's age? Is it the same one used by google?

Google is ICANN registrar that they can check all record of domain registration , that now they use the new factor for ranking as domain age and also they can make the penalty to spam website network that it is same owner.

may be from the date it was cached first. but i have heard that even registering a domain for many multiple years gives extra credibility, so they might be checking via domain registry as well

Firstly a domain name with 5 years registered first wl gives high preferance as google thinks that this 5 years domain is a real domain looking for real seo purposes, if u dont want take 5 years then atleast take 3 years domain as minimum age.
