We are thinking about using a small flash banner on our shopping cart website. Could someone tell us how bad flash will impact our seo efforts? You always hear about flash being bad for seo, but since we're not seo experts, we thought perhaps someone could remove the myths for us. Thanks as always!
The myth is that all flash is bad. It’s not. It’s bad use of Flash that is bad. If you use Flash to contain your sites content, that is bad. If you use Flash as a replacement for an image, you are good. Examples: Disney Cruise Line uses Flash correctly Coca-Cola does not ...but they can get away with it since they only have to rank for one keyword. ;-)
Exactly, the use of flash in areas of your sites isn't a problem. It comes to be a problem when you build an entire site in flash. It becomes difficult to get the search engines to crawl the content. Using a small banner made in flash shouldn't hurt you if the rest of your seo practices are sound.
Hello Bro, I will elaborate in simple terms. We know that SE (Search Engine) Crawler, Bots or Robots love CONTENT and TEXT…...what ever you may call them... THEY can’t read TEXT or CONTENT imbedded in IMAGES or FLASH...therefore if you feed a crawler, flash rich or image rich website…even if you have inserted whole Bible inside it… it would COUNT “0â€â€¦ What we can do is that…we can cut FLASH and IMAGES to some degree and replace them with TEXT … Is it OK? I came across this piece of information some days back… I hope it helps you…you need to decipher is yourself....check below <div id="flash content"> Text.... </div> ...Comments All .swf, .swp, .js, .asp, .aspx and any other non html that is called externally doesn't need to have a list of static parameters passed to them by another script (eg. "xyz.swf"). They just need to be called. The parameters can be setup up within these files. If separate properties are needed to be setup for a number of different requests then the best practice would be have separate files for the different requests. No one wants to have to make a hundred different changes in the code once it is up and we really don't want to have any undue downtime or a having to see erroneous pages since someone forgot to update the file. Div is an basic element tag... soe\me designers are found of it since we can make the page table-less... Thank you
