How does Facebook know I'm creating several accounts?

    Hi all!
I'm trying to open more then one Facebook account. I want to join facebook groups without using my real name. and even though I'm using VPN software that allows me to change my IP. when I tried to create another account they asked for a phone number to verify my account. now I know that's not a problem and I can buy a disposable number or use an online sms service, I'm just wondering how the h***l do they know? if the IP is different? Do they track the computer somehow and know I'm using the same one to create two accounts? is there a way to see past the VPN software?

How does a multi-billion dollar company know that a Peon from Digital Point is creating multiple accounts?

    Oh I don't know...

I didn't know facebook cared if you made multiple accounts. There have been atleast ten accounts made from this pc. Sister, nephew, kids, etc.

The problem is, he is trying to SPAM them.

Then he wonders why they want him to verify his accounts.

Fast and in a hurry it seems. Gotta be subtle.

I read an article about the 'hope that helps' team and how they use their personal accounts and create gazillions of pages to troll other pages - and facebook doesn't object. I can't see why you need to hide...

They could be tracking you via cookies. IP tracking is common, which can be bypassed, but they can also track via cookies. So, you'd need to clear your cookies/session data every time you try to create a new account.
