Sorry, but as a newbie that always used PayPal, I can't quite figure out how egold works.

Does anybody have a spare minute for the basics, at least?

    Maybe a quick comparison?

    Thank you very much!

eGold work like a virtual Gold but it's value is the same with the real value and you can use it for doing business in the Internet.
At a very simple explanation, you can think of eGold as a another service like PayPal.
($1 in PP = $1 in EG = $1 in the real world)

Besides that, egold is actually gold in a virtual shape. If the price of gold goes up/down you will have more/less money in your egold account. One can make nice money by buying egold today and selling it tomorrow. Another thing is that through egold, once paid it stays paid - NO chargebacks at all. Egold cannot be purchased directly using credit card or bank account ... you have to use third parties also known as exchangers. Hope this helps.

Yes, it does! Repping you too! :)

So I guess that with the price of gold being particularly high nowadays (I heard), u would rather sell than buy!?

How does it perform as a way of payment compared to PayPal?

Apart from the chargeback thing that helps sellers and I believe that egold is available in more countries...

    Thanks!

Based on the amount you have, it may be a proper time to sell it. However, gold price can go up furthermore. It's way better than paypal. It's worldwide accepted, payment is made instantly, fees aren't that high and you don't have to worry about getting limited.

Same way you can buy egold - by selling it to third parties or trading here on DP. :D There are several reputable exchangers accepting your egold and pay you through wire transfer for a small commission.
