I have not found any suitable category to post this question (SUGGESTION : There should be a category in the DP forum to post threads about the DP forum itself).

To Moderators : Please move this forum to suitable forum if necessary. & Please don't give me an infraction.

When I make a new thread in guru, just below the thread DP forum shows some similar threads posted earlier in the DP forum.

The question is : How does DP do it ? Does DP search all it's earlier-threads-databse by their Titles/ Topics or their full-body of threads ?

Its' either by the Titles/ Topics or full-body of threads ?

    Thanks.

Its a Vbulletin function. I think it works only for titles.

I find such comments weak. Take responsibility for your actions! Google is no where near close to being the most suitable. I find it lazy. Next time you will get an infraction from me whether you beg to not get it or not. Load of rubbish IMO.

If you had looked through your options, you would have noticed this forum where I put it now and its description tells you this is where you can ost about this forum.
Because of annoying cases like this we spend hours moving stuff.

To answer the question, it's done by matching thread starters and titles. VB guru's can fill you in more.

Login to Admin Control Panel, in the left click on Vbulletin Options
then ... when you get a list of all the Vbulletin admin options look for Message searching options and click on it, inside look for The Simila threads options and Click on Yes

Once done, click on Maintenance in the left bar, and select Update Counters , there look for Rebuild Search Index and click Rebuild Search Index below it (this will take time), Once done ... Come down and look for Rebuild Similar Threads and click Rebuild Similar Threads below it.

Refresh your boards and you should see the similar threads!

Please note, Similar threads feature is a bit intensive on the forum, so enable it only if your server is capable of handling it!

it is php script lol, in that u have search engine which will search in DB for similar threads and it will display at bottom so it will be easy for members to browse related threads for more info.

    Some questions:

how useful is to activate the similar threads option in vbulletin? is it worth the intensity it adds to the server? it may slow down too much?

if i don't do the "rebuild search index", will the forum eventually start showing the similar threads?
i have almost 2 million posts, i'm afraid it could take too long to do the rebuild o.o
