How does DNS effects ranking

    I m reading this that DNS also affects to some extent on your rankings?? m not sure how does that.. can any1 explain me the same if you dont mind??

    I have heard DNS can affect Google SERPS only.

    Do u mean that the name servers i.e. ns1.hisdomain.com ns2.hisdomain.com whch i gave to www.mydomain.com is slow to respond?? den n den only it wud affect my rankings??
    but i guess the responding speed of DNS (commonly known as name servers, if i'm not wrong) would be depending upon the server where the website is hosted?? rght

    plz help me with this
