I just got a duplicate sale from the same buyer (same item # and same price) via PayPal, with the duplicate sale coming in a minute after the first one. Not sure how that happened since PayPal makes it pretty clear that you've made payment and is pretty quick to take you to the checkout, whereas with credit card, I guess it's easier to make duplicate payments..? Anyways, just wondering if anyone knows.. how does Clickbank handle a duplicate sale? I had a duplicate sale before, but that was a long time ago and I forgot what happened, lol. Do they refund the buyer as soon as they determine a duplicate sale has been made, and does this refund go into MY refunds (debits), or do they just refund the money to the buyer with no strings attached? Or... does Clickbank just wait for the buyer to figure it out themselves and refund the payment themselves? (I would hope not) Its been about 30 minutes since the dupe sale and it's still there. It's a $52 sale, so I'm kind of hoping it won't end up as a refund and go into the debits...
I believe that the buyer or you will need to put in a refund request. Otherwise it will go unnoticed.
I had a bunch of dupe sales already and NO refunds afterwards. I assume someone might have bought for a friend/different computer, that's why they both multiple times.
The customer always has to fill in a refund form otherwise Clickbank will not refund the money. I doubt someone would buy the same book for one of their "friends" George. Unless it's a software that would only work for one computer. Al.
Just a clarification. The customer can simply contact the vendor(and request a refund) and the vendor will forward it to clickbank, in this case no need to fill any forms. The order number is the only thing required and the vendor can just send an email to clickbank with it and it will be automatically processed(He can send an empty email with the order number in the subject and a refund will be issued automatically)...
Hmm, I have had this quite often. I get the same person buying the same product more than 10 times, then a day later they get a refund. This makes me beleive that the person does it on purpose, in order to get a refund for "accidentally purchasing more than one copy" resulting in them getting the item for free. I may be wrong but just seems a little wierd..
CB does nothing about it. The buyer often doesn't know that she bought it twice! But she'll think of you as a scammer after checking the credit card statement. Vendors should ask CB to refund such sales immediately. I had a duplicate sale on a vendor product a month back and it was refunded within an hour after I sent a refund request to CB.
What happened after it was refunded? Did that refund go into your debits/refunds, or did they just refund the duplicate payment without doing anything to your account?
This is a HUGE pet peeve of mine. ClickBank does not do anything about double sales - and it would be VERY easy for them to put something in place. It also bugs me when publishers say, "I hope they don't notice." I **always** give a refund, followed by an apology email, as soon as I see a duplicate sale. In my opinion, not offering the refund is actually ripping off the customer. If anyone from Clickbank is reading this -- Can you do SOMETHING about duplicate sales on your end?
It shows as a refund. I just checked the actual time. The sale was made at 13:23 and refunded at 13:44. I would have never found out that it was a duplicate sale if the buyer hadn't sent me an email that she couldn't open the file.
Its unlikely that anyone would go such length for a refund, also becuase he can get one simply by asking (no need to have multiple orders) the main point is, that most people that order multiple times are generally kinda mad (and blame the publisher) that they have been charged more than once, thus its normal that they simply refund all the orders after that...because of their own mistake... others simply think that because they didnt clicked the "Order Completed" button, their credit card was not charged! and they order again later and so on. such refunds are very bad for a product, in particular because the refund rate can be calculated and some affiliates think that the product have a high refund rate and promote something else instead...which means that potential affilaites are lost because of the stupidity of the customers
