Hi, I just wonder how does CJ itself make money ? because if you see affiliate link in your advertisers website they pay you as much as CJ pays ! I mean if you work with them directly there would be no difference !!! ?
Really,so if nothing sells the merchants still spending tons? I thought may be if we got say 10% cj tacked on another 5% for the sale behind the scenes.
CJ got 30% based on your commissions. Plus some fees from new merchant joined. That's why CJ have to track your sales correctly. More sales you made, more CJ got.
But as i said ! check your advertisers web site ... usually most of them have a link "affiliate" at the bottom of the page ... so go there ... u see that it'll pay the same as cj ... so if cj get some of commission ... maybe they're paying more to CJ ,yes !?
From what I've seen the majority of them make you sign up through CJ,but I suppose if the had their own aff. tracking software they could cut out CJ.
They're willing to pay that extra to CJ for the benefit of providing a listing on the CJ network, and having CJ take care of all of the payments/technology. Most sites don't also run their own, but those that do (and offer the same payouts) are just trying to make sure that each channel doesn't cannibalize the other.
Yeah, some does same, some does lower. For example, HostGator Pay $100 through CJ for each sales. If you are affiliated with them directly you will get paid $150 per sale if you made more than 20-30 sales a month. (not quite sure about numbers) If you made less than that you got paid lower than CJ. However, CJ is reputable affiliate network and many peoples trust on their tracking. If myself affiliated with merchant directly and they are using their own tracking system (not any 3rd party services). How can I be sure that merchant won't cheat on me? If you made 10 sales but counted only 8 sales then how do you know that? CJ (or others network such as Shareasale, Linkshare, etc.) is more convenience in payment terms. All commissions just paid at once compared to merchant affiliate. If you are doing business with 10 merchants and each of them pay you by check. What a mess!! Most of merchant do not offers Paypal or Direct deposit and that's bad for people outside US either. I prefer some network to handle in tracking and payment instead of affiliated with merchant directly.

ValueClick owns a LOT more than just CJ... Anyway, CJ charges a standard 30% of commission as a fee (may be less for large merchants), as well as network access fees, mailing fees, value-added service fees, etc... If you do well with promoting your advertisers, CJ will do well too.
