I posted this in the Chitika forum but no one ever seems to go there and there atill nbo replies, so I am posting it here in the hope of someone answering the questions. Is it contextual? Do they promote all types of products or is it gadgets and electronic stuff? Is it based on an affiliate system where you get paid upon someone purchasing something? If so, how is it different to CJ, for example?
chitika eminimals are contextual ads and they are paying per click. You can use both adsense and chitika on the same page. They promote mostly products from DVD to Laptops. Also they have a service called chitika shopclould, just like tag cloud but filled with ads. I haven't tried yet.
They can be used on any site but do work particulary well on product based blogs. I find the CPC is on par with Adsense. You can use them in contextual mode or you can set the keywords your self. They promote 1000s of products, the best way to see if they are suitable for your audience is to do a sample search on their page (http://www.chitika.com/).
I never had success with chitika as i don't have a product related blog. Check problogger's camera blog. He said in the past that he was making much more than adsense.
