Hi guys, i've been thinking about this. How does blogger.com make money? Anyone has any ideas? Looking at the free/paid blog hosting service space so wondering.
By allowing/suggesting adsense on the blogs. Google owns both, so blogger provides an additional platform in which to display millions more ads than would be possible since many webmasters, who pay for their own hosting do not care for adsense...but just about every blogger blog uses adsense. More places to display ads, means more ad revenue for Google. The harder webmasters work to make what ever they can from adsense on their blogger blogs, the more successful it is for adwrods and the more they can charge for ads. Basically blogger provides a free workforce to create content for the Adwords program to display related ads. Blogger makes money because adsense pays bloggers a very small percentage of what it takes in from advertisers, with no labor, or development costs.
You can make money from blog by advert for google. If your blog is wellknow everybody will buy product form your account. You will get commision.
Does Google pay you the full amount if you use Blogger's built in ads or does Blogger keep some of the revenue?
Obviously blogger gets some commision also and if you think even if it only took 0.1$ per click on all the accounts it has it must still make thousands a day!! B.
You keep the full amount, but they make money from Blogger because it massivly increases the use of AdSense.
As of now they dont make money directly... but most blogger uses have adsense on their blogs so that makes google some money.... And who know in future they may put ads by themself on all blogs and share revenue with bloggers.......
Yeah from what I understand Blogger is just a great way to get people to use their products. I mean they have adsense going on almost all of the blogs because it is so easy! They also get them to use other google products. Essentially Blogger.com creates loyal Google users.
Sometimes, it's not about making money, It's about giving yourself (as a corporation) reputation, expansion, respect and a brand name. I remember hearing or reading not too long ago that "Gillette" actually loses money with his "Mach 3". But those are great shavers, and your brain relates "Gillette" with Quality so you will buy some other product of them an earn them money.
Not likely. That is a very sweet view of the world that you all have but Google is not a help coop for webmasters. And it's not an open source community for the better good of blogging like Word Press. It is a profit driven, capitalistic mulit-billion dollar operation with shareholders that want a return on their investment. At the present, Google is trading at $397 a share. The days of a "Loss leader" for market share are over. They don't have the bloogger platform to help out bloggers and enhance the universe...it is cheap labor to provide additional "billboards" to display ads for their clients. Google's main source of revenue is advertising. Blogger provides billboards. Server space is the trade off, but it is much cheaper than maintaining millions of sites. You only need to look at the constant changes in the adsense TOS..that is not for you..that is for the people who are spending money on ads...they come first, and if a day comes when advertisers start to balk about having thier ads displayed on blogger blogs because of the quality of content...then the blogger platform no longer serves a purpose..becomes an unnecessary expense and it will be history. Google makes money because they don't have to pay you to create content, and they get to display ads on it for peanuts. If they are paying $1 a click, they are making $5 and up on that click, and they get paid no matter what, even if they decide not to pay you. Google makes money because you are cheap labor..free. I think it's great that you all have this noble view of Google being there for the betterment of webmasters, but the bottom line is, when you blog for adsense, you work for them, they don't work for you. Why do you think so many webmasters prefer affiliate marketing ? Because you do it your way, and affiliates bend over backwards to for you to sell their product. With Google, it's the other way around...you bend over backwards for the pleasure of displaying their ads on your precious real estate to send your traffic to someone else. to make the sale. If you ad the stress and hoop jumping that webmasters do to be a part of adsense...it's like they are Web Pimps ...and Pimps make money by keeping the employees scared to do something wrong. blogger.com helps adsense to get some publishers. hence from blogger.com adsense earns and the owners are same!
GO for private hosting, Google keeps blogspot users in low priority they can smartprice you or even ban you..
Google owns it and I am pretty sure they don't care about revenue from it. They want reach... similar to how they tried to acquire WordPress back in the day.
With the use of Blogger, you can take advantage of Adsense. Also, you can earn money from affiliate marketing, if you promote some products and gain sales.
