Hi folks, I had a thought today - how does adwords determine if your adcopy is relevant to your adgroups and keywords if you have a number of ads with different wording? i.e. ad A, B and C for a single adgroup might use different terms. How then does adwords calculate adcopy relevancy to this adgroup? Cheers.
CTR is one of the best indicators for google. That is if an advert is getting a lot of clicks versus impressions it must be highly relevant as opposed to one that gets a poor CTR. Initially however, Google will crawl your page looking for occurences of your keywords within the text. Some people also believe that they examine backlink data much like they do for organic listings, but this is debatable.
This is not true at all... I have tried and tested this many times over. I would show you the proof if I could, but I cannot give out client private data...
The fast answer is the way people who click on your ad do. It probably involves a relatively complicated algorithm, but the conversion rate is a quick indication of whether your landing page confirms what your Ad implies. If it isn't what people are expecting (i.e. what your Ad has led them to believe), the CTR figure will act as proof of it. Duncan
