    It's not exactly rocket science, you just buy a licence, install a forum and you're done..

    hahaha you can import USENET groups directly into VB and get content prepopulated daily. Great way to add content to your forums technical and non tehcnical.... i know of some sites that have tons of windows and XP discussion right in their forums! what was your forum again? :D PM me and we can discuss if you are intrigued!

    forums take a lot of time to promote and take care of and don't make much money. It isn't worth it. Better just make another site..

    This is true ^ but it's not for the feint hearted...Michael's right when he says that they take a lot of time and a lot of care...If done properly, they can be rewarding, but only in the long run. I'd say that the vast majority of forums (80%) fail within the first 3 months.

    That's very true, just take a look at the forums that try use the 'post exchange' method, those die off quick.
