IF its not for Living then just take some chill out: like walking in the garden (if you have), parks, listening soft musics or just read through whatever you like ........ This may chill up and get you back
I don't. If I'm not in the right mood to write I don't write. Generally if you attempt to write something when your really not in the mood, it shows in the content churned out at the end. I take a break and return when I feel ready.
I never like to right when I'm not in the mood. and never will do. I will take help from other writer. that time I will do Relax or some other task that make my mood refresh.
I write for living, when I have to submit 5000 words per day ( I knew its too much, I feel tired, but all the articles have to pass copy scape, and unique ideas ). Sometimes, I feel irritated writing about unknown topic, even if you do research on it, you will not be able to get any ideas about it. So, I just set a timeline, and complete it within six hours . Now I feel bored of writing, so I just limit 1000 words per day. When I don't have mood in writing, I engage in other work like translating, voice recording and seo tasks.
Taking a quick walk helps me to shake off any negative moods. Plus reminding myself to breathe deeply. Sometimes I'll do a bit of other work that uses my "logical" aptitude (like randomly writing out a list of numbers, then adding them up on paper) so that my "creative" aptitude gets a break.
Writing is a gift, an art full of incredible magic and mysteries .. Some people write just to do so with respect to your question, these mood swings are not affected at all! But a writer who does it for passion, do what you love not only depends on emotions .. inspiration is not mental but is to a place so incredible that every single word ends being written ..
I just go for a nice walk or a run, then make a cup of coffee, put on some music to fit the mood of what I'm writing, and then I brain dump. That is, I open a Word document and just dump everything that I'm thinking of - all the mindless drivel, everything that's worrying me, or confusing me, or amusing me. After about five to ten minutes, I hit the 'flow' stage, and then I'm good to go. Works like a charm, and has ever since high school.
I love writing and sometimes, even when I'm not in the mood, writing has a nack of getting me back in the mood (don't ask me how). A nice walk or listening to some cool music (soft rock to be precise) really turns me on (writing-wise).
When you've produced enough articles, you can do it in a kind of mechanical way, when that "zone" is very far away. It's just basically a professional attitude you have to acquire.
I agree Curtisswn, I have worked as a journalist for many, many years and you have to write even if you are "not in the mood". Setting goals helps, like " I will write 500 words in 30 minutes" type thing. Imposed deadlines work well, try setting your own deadlines and giving yourself a small reward if you meet them!
Think of something that makes you feel good. You can walk away for a while then come back and start writing again.
Same here There are times when I really have to write (newsletter, blogposts, etc.) and my mind just stops! When this happens I just go out of the house and walk around the neighborhood and I get back with lots of writing ideas, this works every time for me
Motivation is nice, discipline is priceless. There's no such thing as writer's block. Once you start typing the ideas come. The trick is to force yourself to write that first word.
