How do you think, why Google became so popular?

How do you think, what are the most important factors which made Google so popular and so Big?

 

Their search engine algo that presents the most relevant results closest to what you are finding. Another thing is the Page Rank introduction that made every webmaster look to it as a holy grail

 

Hard work for a long period of time is what made it so popular. Everybody talks about it like it happened over night, actually it took a lot of time for it to become popular, and probably thousands of hours of research and coding before even starting out.

"Overnight success usually takes 15 years" as Steve Jobs said it.

 

well it was the 1st search engine to orginize its pages properly. Theres a documentry on discovery science about google. Before google, websites were ordered by category (like yahoo directory) google was first to orginize like this.

 

simply because their the best

 

Because they knew where to go further when there were 10 sites offering the same product...

 

I'm sure the simple, straightforward, no bs design helped.

 

Because - they offered income options to millions of webmasters.

 

There are a couple of reasons that Google has risen to the top

1.Google Delivers-good results,massive database
2.Google Services -iGoogle, gMail, other customizable services

 

for me they were the first search engine to deliver the best results for my queries. also i like how simple and fast the search page loads.

 

Simple homepage with no cluttered design. Simple name "Google it!" for some reason "Yahoo it!" doesen't feel right. And Good results

By the way do you know that Google has won an award recently as the best MARKETING company in the WORLD (which satisfies user needs)!

 

My feeling is that it was a combination of 2 things - one was a great algorithm for automatically ranking pages, thereby improving search results. The second was that they didn't try to become a web portal but concentrated on being a pure search engine. In the days of slow access and dial-up, they were simply the fastest engine to load.

 

I think one of the reason people may like Google, can be the very simple Home page of google. It is purely search engine, unlike yahoo which is a Portal site. Also that Google give very good search results.

 

I think it mostly had to with their marketing strategy. They did a great job of getting the name Google on countless websites. They even went further to feature Google use in movies.

They were definitely not the first search engine to organize by something other than category. Do you not remember the dozen or so popular search engines before Google? They all had their own way to rank websites. They just weren't as good at ranking them and they had weaker marketing.

 

Giberish...Google became popular because of its name. The double O in the middle of the name is the key...Just pronounce it as if it had only one O. (!)

As well as providing the most relevant results, Google is also an innovative company constantly progressing and improving...
