Provided you have all the domains, hosting and all the things needed, how do you successfully start a blog? You can't just post and post without someone reading them. Any ideas?
Haha, I'm glad everytime someone asks a question you have an answer, and usually it's a link to TUK - just like that proxies thing. Thanks [enter your name here] aka Gallastico! +repped
I sure seem to be able to do that. Everyone on here will say that if you keep posting good stuff, in time traffic will grow. Social network sites like Digg and StumbleUpon are good for getting traffic sometimes, but it's a crapshoot. I think the key is to find your voice, your perspective, and have an original and entertaining/informative tone to your blog. Try stuff like EntreCard and Scratchback too, they are designed to spread the word. Good luck!
Maybe he tries to tell us that his blogs are designed for himself and himself only. Why would he need any visitors as long as he can read them? His blogs are succesfull regrdless of the traffic stats
Write a blog with unique contentn that attract readers. I for one blog about my open source software, releases and occasionally beta tests. I now have around 600/800+ UV's daily on average. Also, with the donations i get from people that use my software i can pay off the site and everything so i ain't doing bad. Just get yourself some unique content, good layout and im sure you will be having a nice blog to read.
Lots of good content (have 10 articles written before launch) Post daily Comment on other blogs Join social networks Run a contest Buy ads on similar blogs Just some basics
Thanks for the suggestion guys. Will surely put those in mind. I've put up a blog before but it wasn't that successful leaving it dead, lol.
how do you definte successful? money making? or traffic wise? IMHO, starter blog's success is really based on the recurring traffic and there's no way to that except for quality content
Traffic wise, I'm not really into money making as it just flows by the time you have stable traffic. It's like, how will I get people to read and do I advertise my blog even when it's still half-empty?
from what I can see in major bloggers like skelliewag, when they launch a new blog, they usually have at least 10 very good quality content first. traffic we can linkbait anytime.. but to keep that traffic coming back will be the problem, so that quality content is really a must, if you are confident that your content will make people stick for more, then, you're all ready to launch ur blog
For me, first is to have an idea on what my website or blog will be about. Next, think of possible contents. Then find a freehosting site to try out my test website. If all went well, I might migrate to a paid hosting.
I have no problems with hosting or anything buddy. Thanks for the suggestion though "kabayan" nvtellan. Banji, thank you for your post.
that's exactly what I did, but somehow I regretted using freehosting site first. I build up so many inbound links, and when I finally got my own .com, I have to start over. but using the free ones does have its own advantage, we can tune our blogging niche and find out which will be more successful
One of the things that I strongly recommend is that you write at least 10 to 15 really strong, interesting and compelling posts before you officially launch your blog. You want to make sure that when you do start to get visitors there is enough content on your blog to interest them enough to come back. As far as getting traffic, the best way I've found when starting out is to leave really good comments (not spam) on other established blogs in your niche as well as post to message boards in your niche. Answer questions and reference posts you've written on your blog. If you can write and are interesting, people will visit your site to see what else you have to say.
If you make interesting blog posts on a regular basis and join blogging communities like MyBlogLog you should get a lot of followers.
I suggest you use: Wordpress - as blogging platform GoDaddy - to obtain new domain Hostgator - for a web hosting. Submit a blog to: - social bookmarking sites - RSS feed and blog directories - Directories - Article directories Once your blog become higher PR, you can exchange link with higher PR of other blogs.
