Hey guys, Just curious how you set your goals for a logical Pr. I know we all want to be 8 - 10, but for many of us... that's never gonna happen. So what is the lowest acceptable rank to be competitive? Pr3? Okay, once you rank Pr3, does this push your site above the searches for the niche? And then websites that are Pr4 will go above that in searches? I'm not finding this to be true. There is a little guy in my niche that's Pr3 (been around for 11yrs) that shows up consistently 3 - 5 on the first page of google (below manufacturer's home page) and sometimes Wiki. However, the "Walmart" of the niche (the big dogs who sells this product) who are Pr6 (AlexaRank 1,909) don't even show up. What are other benefits of being high Page Rank and what is the lowest PR that you would accept? (while still competing) Thx
It's all about providing a ton of high quality of content and lots of backlinks from other high ranking sites. To be a page rank 8 your going to need hundreds if not thousands of pages of high quality content and hundreds of links from websites that are page rank 8 and above
Toolbar PR means little to nothing anymore, esp. after the last update. Goal should be building natural backlinks, and the ultimate goal depends on the volume of competition in your niche.
How accurate is the Pr from dnscoop? What's funny is the little Pr3 site that I was talking about in the OP has very little content. While the BIG pr6 site has thousands of pages of content and sets the market trend in guitar sales. They have backlinks up the wazzoo because their prices is how people learn the "going rate". It's like comparing Amazon to some little tiny Pr3 ebook site with less than 300 books. Interesting.
According to most of people here at DP, PR is not that important. U can see PR1 sites in google search results, out ranking PR3 or PR4 sites
