How Do You Set Blog To Post Automatically?

How do I write a bunch of entries, and then make it so that the blog posts every 12 hours? Do I change the timestamp to a future date and then hit "publish"? Or will that publish the article immediately and show a future date?

Assuming your using WordPress, you need to change the timestamp to whenever you want the article to appear. The key thing to remember (trust me - I learned this from experience) is to tick the "edit timestamp" option.

Click publish as normal and you should see a list of parked posts on your dashboard

Yes, sit once a week and make 7 posting with 7 days (week) timestamp so that every day your blog is updated....

Just like me > I never knew this untill I tried this manually .Write a post and then edit the timestamp for the day you would like your post to get published and then publish the post . It would publish the post on that particular day.

Thanks everyone. I figured that is what you do. I just to "test" it myself, because I didn't want to take the chance of it publishing immediately.

ps: Do any of you ever "back date" your posts? For instance, you publish today, but edit the timestamp so that it is, say, September 15th? Or will google penalize for this?

I recently relaunched a site and backdated stuff by nearly 2 years :D

Why would Google penalize you? You're not doing anything wrong.

Google is not penalizing you..But why would you do it? Do you want Google to think your site is old and so give you more weightage in Search..

I think currently the Google algo is more in favor of new updating content..so, you are only putting yourself at a disadvantage..

Correct me if i'm wrong though.

The old site had been up for over 2 years and it was pretty much a static HTML site which I occasionally updated with news. What I didn't want to do was lose the long tail search phrases I was getting which is why I backdated everything.
