I am really puzzled at posts suggesting to look at Adwords Keyword tool for keywords that has more searches, with more cpc... etc.... Shouldn't one be selecting Keywords based on what that person knows... what he is used to.. what he is good at ?
My advice is to select keywords based on how other websites perform (alexa) and obviously keywords tool.
Try Marker Samurai, even the demo version works well. You can also used other free software, google your question and that's it
I check how many searches that keyword gets with google tool And then see the keyword competition If number of searches is good and competition is not killer it's definitly a good keyword Of course i try to comme up with any combination related to the subject of the site only ...
See, you're being logical and thinking about making a website on something you know and love and enjoy. Most people here are just in it to earn money, and plenty don't even write their own content - they pay someone else to, or spin existing content.
First of all.. why do people only read the title and then respond with a stupid answer that does not answer the OP's question in any way. Secondly, if you are going to run a website for a long time then choose a keyword/topic that you know a lot about and you like learning new things about. Do not only write about things because they pay well, you will get bored at some point.
@Wulkanen, @RumpledElf Atleast there are few people reading the actual post.... very true... Yeah... thatz why i started this thread ...
please note that, if you choose rich keywords, then to rank with them is hard as well, so are you going to work hard?
There are keywords that define the subject matter could depend on it and you also know exactly what you want so Look carefully and u will found what you need
The niche of the website should be based on something that the person knows and is used to; the keywords used to get to that site should be highly searched with minimum competition.
Unfortunately often this is left to the web developer or marketer as all of this is alien to business owners.
I first try to research niches, and then hopefully find a few that are obscure and relatively untapped. Then I use google keyword tool to search for some keywords with around 4,000-20,000 exact searched per month. Then I check google trends. If everything looks good I analyze the top competitors for the keywords I am looking at, and see if I have a good chance to get within the top 3. After some time doing SEO, and after you have a decent amount of websites under your belt, it becomes pretty easy to determine whether you can get into the top 3 within a reasonable amount of time or not. This is a skill that comes with time and experience, and you will not learn how to do this by reading forum posts all day. Best advice I can give is to keep making sites, and you'll get much better at picking keywords over time and you will learn from your mistakes . I have several sites that have flopped and only average about 25 cents per day, and all because of bad keyword research in the past.
I always try random keywords, using micro niche finder expanding a bit deeper and find expensive and low rival keys for my sites.
Actually there are two main components to selecting good keywords, relevance and popularity. If you select a keyword or phrase that is highly relevant but is never searched on, you will not prosper. Conversely, if a word is incredibly popular but not relevant to your offerings you will not have a good conversion. So, while you might have web traffic, none of the traffic will be targeted. The key to selecting good keywords is striking a balance between relevance and popularity. The more relevant a term to your product or service offering, the more likely the website visitor will convert to a sale.
