How about trying a nicotine patch or nicotine chewing gum if it's available.

Thanks everyone for all the advices. Only smokers can truly understand how hard it is to stay away from those cigarettes. *sigh*

hhyosong22, thanks for that video. It entertained me :)

I started smoking when i was 15, by the time i was 27 i was smoking 2 packs a day, i loved it. I met a girl online, we talked for months, she lived in Florida and i lived in Virginia. Well long story short, this girls was amazing and way out of my league, but she really liked me. However, she didn't like that i smoked. I didn't want to do anything to lose this girl, so, the night before she came to visit, i smoked my last cigarette. We have now been married for almost 2 years

I quit smoking in July. I just don't smoke one day at a time, it isn't always easy but the result is worth it. The cravings come and go.
    Hang in there.

I quit cold turkey because I decided if I really wanted to quit than I would just not have another smoke and it worked. I can still not get my girlfriend to quit though

Why not nicotene replacement? That is also very helpful!
That is exactly what helped me make a start a non smoking life.

I had tried to quit several times using the patch and gum, but without success. Looking back, I would say it was because as long as I used a substitute, I wasn't really commited to quitting. Instead of doing whatever was necessary to quit, I was using the gum as a proxy to fight my battles for me. It was only by making peace with myself that my life was going to suck for a while and quitting 'cold turkey' that I actually succeeded.

Because I wanted to get off nicotene completely, not just replace it with something else.

I gave up in july of this year after being a heavy smoker for over 10 years i thought it would be really difficult but it wasn't the only aid i used was nicotine chewing gum that is all and i did not experience any cravings although now i have given up i go through twenty pieces of (normal) chewing gum every day.

It seems like everywhere I look, I see people that quit smoking....
And they all talk about smoking like it's such a terrible thing, and you see all this smokers saying "I wish I could
quit like you"... and they all forget one thing: smoking is fun! if it's so horrible why did you start in the first place?

I wish that it ended here, with people caring about their own buisness, and stop smoking because, I admit,
it's more healthy without it. But everywhere
I go, people are calling me a filthy smoker, and urge me to quit. The
only place you can smoke is in your house, with all windows shut. and they kick me out of public places. goddamn it! Now,
I can't even have a smoke to go down with my beer when I hang out in bars!

It's much harder to be a smoker nowdays, it seems like everyone hates you, sometime I feel like life would be
so much easier if I quit.... But hey! I'm not a quiter! and I'm not going to give up!
