Im just selling my domain , in either case , how does this process go?

this is the reply i got from netfirms

    Thank you for contacting Netfirms.

You will need to change the password to something generic then provide them with the log in
information, you would then need to replace your credit card information with them. For best
results you can call into or billing team 1-877-399-9909 or contact them by e-mail
asking them to "Do not remove your domain name" This will make it so that
your account will not be billed.

Their site says you can import/experot domains to other accounts. I have not used them, but most registrars have a "push" process which makes it easy to "push" the domain to another account.

So if you were selling me a domain I would expect to register for a free netfirms account, you would push the domain to my new account, and after a 60 day wait I could transfer it to my registrar of choice.

this is the last reply i got from them

    Hello,

    Thank you for your e-mail.

To transfer the ownership of the domain name you will be required to do two things. First is to
update the admin contact info to reflect the new owner. To do so, please follow these steps:

    1. Go to www.netfirms.com/members
    2. Click on Domains
    3. Click on the Admin button
    4. Click on the DNS Admin button
    5. Search for the admin contact fields and update them to reflect the new owner

Secondly, what you will have the new owner do is to go to www.netfirms.com/web-hosting-free and
sign up using a sub-domain name. Once the account is created have the new owner log into the
account and import the domain name into the newly created account.

Lastly, have them create a new billing profile with their credit card number. This way each year
they will be billed for the renewal of the domain name instead of the current owner.
