How do you protect your IMPORTANT sites?

I am almost done developing a website that is super important- can't go offline.

So, I've got it on a dedi server, cron backups, etc. etc.

But I was thinking... I would like to order hosting from an entire different hosting company for this same domain and update the data daily (I can do this, no problem)

Only, what's the easiest way to transition your visitors from host1 to host2?

If I update the nameserver IP, that could take up to two days before it propogates.

So, my question is, what is the best way to redirect your website from host1 (if it goes down) to host2 without any downtime?

Hi,

You should go with a managed DNS provider instead of using your hosts name-servers.

With using low TTL values and full access to your DNS zone files you should be able to do a complete switch in under an hour.
