It's one of these things you read here constantly but I had no idea how to say it to another person: the short version of directory. Normally you'd have to spell it "dire" I guess but why don't you just write dire then I'm no native speaker, could someone please shed some light on that for me?
Well, if I'm saying it out loud then I'll just say "Directory" But in my head I always pronounce 'dir' like 'derr' (like in 'dirty')
if i refer to dos command i will say "der" or "d-i-r", but if i mention the directory i will say "directory".
Well when you go for writing then we all mostly do it by "dir" And as far as pronounce dir goes than i think i use directory only
