[How do you promote your directories?]

    I started 2 directories (general directory) recently for the first time. But I dont know how to promote them. Any help, ideas, suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

    Maybe in other directories, in directory lists, in directories of directories, maybe add a blog to your directory and promote the blog posts.

    Also letting people know of your other directories in emails from your first one.

    And in your sig here at DP and other webmaster forums.

    Create something nd give it away free that requires people giving you a backlink in return.

    Most people advertise their directories through forum avtars, forum sig. links and banners from other directories.

    Advertise on SEO related sites and blogs. Try to get your directory on as many "lists" as you can. Most online marketing is simple ROI based. I find it useful to use branding when it comes to directories.

    One of the more important factors is a high PR (pagerank) so get juicy links, lots of links, slowly and naturally. This will increase your revenues, if the PR drops the revenue dies eventually as well.
