That is what I thought, but that is not what happened. Is there something I may need to change in the settings? I could not find anything.

    I don't think so...

You can send out a message, however, and it'll go into their updates folder in their inbox or show up in their news feed. Not on their wall for sure.

If you don't post anything valueable to your fans, they will not come back to your page.

So they have to come back to see anything? I would think if you were a good business you would only post things maybe once a week so it is always good content and not just random stuff, but then the people would have to remember to check your site.

I think you are on the right track with your page! I would suggest a capture page for them to land on when they potentially visit your page...are you familiar with fbml or static fbml? This is the #1 resource and code that most people use. Also use javascript to leverage that business of yours. I'll be doing a couple of video's on my own page next week. Once they have become fans post everyday relevant and exciting things for your fans. USe links in your status updates. Videos, pictures and general information that is a must see.
If you keep them in the loop on their home pages they will take an interest in your status updates and click through on your links. Hope this makes some sense.
I just started a page so I'm still learning a few things myself!

Post relevant articles 2-3 times per week. Go to forums within Facebook and participate in discussions and add a link to the page to your email signature. If you want to do more, go to outside forums and participate in discussions.

Within your fan page, add functions like polls, question/contest of the week/month etc. Basically get people to come back.

If you have a budget to spend, then do a day dedicated to a charity. promote the fact that you will give one/ten cents (Depending on your budget) to a charity for every new person who joins the fan page for a given day.

You can also use twitter to promote your page.

If you have a lot of friends in your personal page, promote the page through them.

Finally, write articles for hubpages/squidoo and put a link to your page.

    Hope this helps.
