How do you promote your affiliate program?

We launched our affiliate program a couple of months ago, but we're not seeing as many signups as we would like.

Does anybody have any suggestions or tips on promoting it?

Telling us what field it is in might help.

Without that info, all I can offer is look for where webmasters etc in your field hang out. Also email your customers and tell them they can benefit by telling their friends.

    Sorry :)

It's hosting and domain registration. Primary market is Europe.

We've already emailed clients about it, but the takeup has been quite low.

I do some recruiting and promotion, so was going to give you some tips, until I found out the market. Your market is so tough and competitive. Have you tried posting or advertising on some of the hosting forums?

    Try abestweb.com

That's where all the affiliate webmasters congregate.

basically you need to offer them something very attractive to get them to promote in a very competitive industry. Then you need to get the information in front of them (which could involve offline promotion), abestwebs is a good place to start.

Ugh. Could you have picked a tougher market?

You're going to need a generous offer and stunning affiliate support.

Good luck with that. Sorry I couldn't be of more help.

Yeah, sometimes I feel this industry is getting more saturated every day...we're all competing for the same money...that's capitalism for you.

Hey Michele. I actually considered signing up with your affiliate program when weighing up my choices on selling hosting as an affiliate or as a reseller and to be honest the percentages on hosting if you are selling as an affiliate isn't high enough to make it worth the effort (given that it really is an effort with the level of competition out there)

The only hosting affiliate schemes I have seen that seem to be taken up by "sellers" are along the lines of $90 per signup and that's crazy as a hosting company because you have to keep the customer for a few years to make back what you spent on commision (depending on the package bought of coure)

Interlogic - I know what you mean :)

I suppose what we are really looking for is websites that could benefit from an extra revenue stream without any of the associated headaches

Unfortunately we cannot justify payouts in the region of $90 on a €50 sale, however we do payout on all valid sales, so if you sent us a high value sale you stand to gain more than you would from a flatrate payout.

Besides asking you on this forum about promoting our affiliate program can someone please help me understand the best ways to promote my program to merchants? I've signed up with PayDotCom but it seems there and other places I have searched for are no help unless I'm missing something.

We have a wonderful product with a great commission payout that is residual for the lifetime of a customer. I just don't have affiliates... we've been selling the product since 2003 without affiliates. I really need help here. Please can you take a moment to guide me in the right direction? I would very much appreciate it and if you have a list or website and want to do a joint venture deal feel free to email or call me. I'll give you my number if you ask for it. My email is jeff (at) greatnightsleep.com

Thank you very much for reading this.
