Hey all, so a newbie question: how do you promote a CJ product? We know a simple banner doesn't turn out very well Do you use a long sales letter page like many people with CB? Or do the majority of you guys use BANS sites?
Products - I use Triangle Marketing with Affiliate Blog Builder and PopShops banners do not perform well for me. Bill
Create a useful site for the niche you're promoting. I.E. if I'm promoting auto loans I'm not just going to throw up a landing page with a bunch of banners. Instead I'll create a site with articles about loans, give my site some credibility and then have a section comparing auto loans from different companies. Try to seem as unbiased as possible and don't make it look like you're trying to sell something, most internet users may not be internet marketing savvy but they can spot a sales pitch from miles away and will be less inclined to follow your links.
@beyondelectricdreams: and so I would guess in your experience, this is a much better approach than a 4000 word sales letter with testimonies, audio, screenshots, etc?
It depends what you're promoting of course. Some products will fare better with a blatant sales pitch i.e. if you're promoting "make money online" type products, you need to sell people on the idea that they can make money online. For other products, such as auto loans as I mentioned before, people are looking for "advice" not a salesperson that's just trying to make a buck. Draw on your own experience too, put yourself in the buyer's shoes. To use another example, say you had absolutely no idea about web hosting and you were looking for information. How would you feel if you landed on a page that had a sales pitch about how great Hostgator and look at all these cool features, vs. a site that is informative, and explained the general features of a hosting plan and then made a recommendation that would offer the best value. Selling is about gaining the potential buyer's trust. If you can establish that you could sell ice to an eskimo.
I have news for my niche on my website. I'll throw in a "news bit" about a product in there once in a while. Works great.
I don't know of any plugins made specifically for commission junction, aside from a few eBay plugins. Other than that there are several plugins for ad rotation which are very useful to see which banner converts best. What were you looking for exactly?
I am a newbie and don't know much about programming. I use BANS and have decent luck. Check out my sig for more info.
