how do you prevent core files to exist in wordpress?

    my wordpress blog produces core.XXX files which is about 81.MB each..
    my hosting warned me about it and i deed see those files about hundreds of them in my wordpress folder.

    how can i prevent these to reproduce in my wordpress folder?
