How do you montize tech-savvy sites?

I have a couple of websites targeting server admins, good traffic but extremely low CTR with AdSense. A few hundred visitors per day only earns a few cents :(. These sites have been established for several years and listed in DMOZ, I really don't wanna let them go, but the revenue hardly pays the hosting.

How would you monetize these kinds of websites? I don't wanna sell links, it's not a hot topic on link market and also dangerous.

    Thanks for any input!

Some kind of premium service mabey? You could try revenue sharing like this forum has. That would attract alot of visitors and CTR would increace alot.

Its a very hard niche to monetize due to the users knowing alot about adsense so they dont click ads.

I would suggest you to sell some membership such as WHT is doing now.
Member pay certain fee to you to get access to only premium section

    Same layout ?
I see two places I'd put image-only ads if I were you if it is.

Very interesting, never tried image-only ads on any sites, I thought they were too limited. I will give it a shot. Thanks!:)
